My prediction for the buy election in the Bahamas
Related to country: Bahamas

First and foremost this is a message for the people of God.Let those who have ears to hear let them hear.We walk not by sight but by faith.

The Prime minister of the Bahamas is ready for retirement. He is one of few men that realises when it is time to go,for this he is wise.

Like a proud father he wants to ensure that his son(s) have a good inheritance when he leaves.A good man leaves and inheritance for his children, children.

The Prime minister of the Bahamas on his first act when returning to office he reduced the retirement time line for the sitting prime ministers from 10 years which is two terms of five which will entitled His children's God Father and former law partner a opportunity to have a pension of over a hundred thousand dollars with all the perks.Perry Christie thrown a bone .Inspite of all his ways he still looks out for his friends, even if they happen to be on the opposite side of the house.

The house of assembly appears to be divided it is not it reminds me of the senario of Good cop Bad cop they are still all on the same team. The stage is set.

To mend a broken heart Dr.Duane Sands doctor to both respective prime ministers,One good heart deserves another.Hence ladies and gentleman you have the Nomination of Dr.Duane Sands for the buy election.

Attorney Ryan Pinder he represents Investors of the former administration if he wins makes the deal sweeter if he loses get the notary need to enter the Politcal arena in 2012.He is an American attorney not called to the bar in the Bahamas. He must renounce his status. No double agents will be allowed here.Where is his patriotism ? He believes in the mighty dollar where ever it is most strongest.

Dr.Andre Rollins,The National Development Party, bring about a change that represents the change that will take place in the not to distant future.Historically he enters the Election through a primary process where the People of the Elizabeth Constituency chose. The primary debate in which he was sucessful as the incumberant against Rashad Amahad community activist.

Mr Rodney Moncur Activist.Workers Party. primarily he advocates toward the needs of the people for justice very passionate and vocal man for the rights of the common man.

Mr.Cassius Stuart The Bahamas Democratic Party a 10 year party also a one man show,he believes he has the right to be Prime minister but lacks the testicular fortitude to come together with others based on egotistical pride,a perfect Dictator.Soon time will bring him to his knees and he will be swallowed up by the highest bidder.Married the daughter of Member of Parliment Alfred Gray,I guest he wants to be grandfathered in.....

This election will be what refected in the entire history of this commonwealth of the Bahamas. What will happen is the Bahamian people will no longer be fooled by Party Polictics and will vote for Representative no longer Party.
The people will see that they are effected no matter who is in office the same way gas prices food cost, health services, Transportation issues, all of these issues effect everyone they will see that the national interest are common to all and they will look for those who will bring about the change that will effect the living Standards of all Bahamians.

The House of Assembly will be spotted with all parties and all independants alike, the house of Assemly will be moved
to abolish all of the constitutional frame works of the British and adopt new standards appicable to the people. The House of the Assembly will take all the pictures of White men of the wall and replace them with honorable Bahamians.

The Bahamas will need no authority other than the will of God and her people and will recognise them as supreme.

The senators will have to be voted for there will be no more appointments. These halls will be with persons who have the national interest of the Bahamas at stage and will not be at the request of political parties.

A true demoracy will be afforded the Bahamian people, and it will take the Bahamians to do it for themselves. The Bahamas that once was a small fishing village and play ground for the rich and famous will rise up to be a power for the people and not private interest groups.

My prediction is this the Free national movement will win the seat and,the others will have made there mark on the stage that history will reflect for many generations to come. The Primeminister will call and early election and shortly afterward retire.

Plp will win the Government and shortly afterwards the former primeminister will retire if he is not plagued with illness before and the New Bahamas will emerge with a leader of great Spiritual conviction.

May God Bless the Bahamas, we are One people united in love and service.

Could this be a sign?
Related to country: Bahamas

The palimentary registrar said that the thumbs of the National Development Party was to conflicting in the resemblance of a major political party in the Bahamas. One I think that this is not a valid enough reason to disqualified. It is an indictment of ther intelligence of the Bahamian people not being able to differeniate between the two.I think that is riduculous, and should be fought for in the courts of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas. The time and the resource that it will take to prove the point will be wasteful see the time of the bye-Election is so close .On the point of principle it should be forth for.The law says that the registrar has the right but under what basis is the right?

Hence the National Development Party had to choose another symbol to go into the election. They chose a dove a symbol of peace prosperity and after the flood that took the whole world Noah let the dove out and it return with a stem of the tree this signifys the water had subsided.

Could this be a sign that after the flood the warning that was given to the people and they did not heed. The dove was symbolic of the earth was ready for the habitation for the ones that were saved. The ones who heeded the call of God.

The people have been consulted, and they will speak.
Related to country: Bahamas

The Lord is full of grace and mercy. Those of whom are wise shall consult and put their petitions before the temple of the lord .I had the great opportunity to speak with a large cross section of people in the Elizabeth Estates. The people are in need of good representation. The people are hurting the young men are looking for jobs they are concern about the land and the way the government are not heeding to the need of the people they want to be consulted they want to have a voice they want to be respected. They are saying they are concern about the high rates in interest on mortages,They want youth programs for there children they are concerned about the level of crime they are concerned about the amount of terms a prime minister can sit in the same seat. They are concern about the constitution being reformed. The people may not have attended Havard University but they still have understanding to know when things are not right. The people have been consulted they want a primary election so the people can demonstrate their power.History will be made in the Bahamas the National Development party will have the people decide who will be the best suited representative.

Why gambling can't be legal in my country?
Related to country: Bahamas

I will tell you why? for years in the Bahamas the illegal lotteries have been in operation in the Bahamas. These days it has just come to the computers now where you have centers called web shops with a five mile radius to or three from different houses. The Progressive liberal Party since it enception had Percy Munnings as it treasure who was well know lottery operator in the Bahamas.

Today in the Bahamas it is no secret who owns these web shop and they are given business license to operate as such but everyone know this where illegal gaming is done via the computer.

A civil right of any citizen is or should have the same right as the foreigner to be able to gamble what make it right for the foreigner and wrong for the Bahamaian. Many times when I am entertaining guest whom may want to go to the casino they ask me why is it that we are unable to gamble along with them in the casino. Many of my friends say to me that is so wrong.

The governing party and opposition alike have always used these persons in the community to fund them in their politcal aspirations or campaign so by right they say they will crack down on it but never have seem to do it from the enception of our independence. The Prime Minster is on record for saying he will not deal with the illegal gambling on his watch. It is a double standard and I am sure that citizens are concern that the person whom play or use these facility if taxed by the government can relief the burden as it relates to the social expenditure that the various ministries of Government are facing.
When you look at it no one will deal with this issues, when it funds their political agendas.

Constitutional reform
Related to country: Bahamas

This is what has been the very basis of our difficulty. The framework of all our laws are the constitution,it seems that there are no lawyers in the Bahamas or Parlimentarians able to make such a change or bold enough to suggest the changes necessary.Prime minster Hubert Ingraham was bold enough to put one forward,I think had he not try to put it in a bundle he would had much sucess but the Bahamian people are alot more intelligent than he presumes.

This does not matter there still needs to be reform we still need to have talks about what it is that we need to change to move this country to the world standards. The people of the Bahamas need to call for the changes in the Bail act.
Power of the office of Prime minister.
These are just a few that are really reaking havoc on our country at present. All this sensationalism over personalities is futile the problem is the foundation that needs to be fixed.

Education is a key component of this resolve we must educat the people on the Constitution and the effect that it will have and has been having on our society.

No loyalty
Related to country: Bahamas

When I see how man can be persuaded to leave there post or stations at various times in their lives I have to wonder where was there Loyalty?

In the Bahamas where the people are feeling the effects of the economic melt down companies be downsized many persons out of work, their is a tremendous amount of crime that is going on particularly in the area of murders.

At the political level the Prime minister is playing a chess game with ministers in the offical oppostion. To have a sitting member of parliment step down with a promise judgeship to the supreme court is ridiculous. This clearly demonstrates to the people the authority inwhich the prime minister has to be revisited . The Westminister form of Government has to be changed, this was inherited from the colonial slave masters orchestrated to keep those they govern surpressed .I guess when you assume the office and see the amount of power that you have liberty to you would need a tremendous amount of morals to say there must be constitutional reform in order to avoid this foundational error to continue. What has happen will continue to happen if we don't change the system from it's very core. The players will come and go but the political game will remain the same.

It should never be where the Prime minster has the right to appoint members of the judicary without a senate approval form both sides of the Senate, which by exension says that senators should be in a position only by election, similar to our brothers and sisters in North America.

The Bahamas inspite of these critical times in our economy still see it prudent that we go into an election, what could Bahamians do?
For one they can choose to protest the elections, how would this be done when there is no unified way to hear the voice of the people.

If you are in a political party that is not main stream or established then the national television station will not play or air remarks or commentary there is no tangible way that you can get the true voice of the people independant of an election in 2010 this is not possible in the Bahamas.

We need help in this country to be able to topple the regime of the Governement to surpress the voices of the Bahamians.

I look at other countries in the world and see the amount of anguish and pain that the people have to endure at the hands of dictators and evil, governments and say the world must not be watching and then I think I guess they think the same thing the Bahamian thinks it does not cause me pain right now, so it is ok until then.

In other parts of the world this act would have been considered treason and the law says it is punishable by death. Some people would not allowed the matter to waste time in the legal wrangling and save the people and the taxpayers the cost of the bullet. What a travesty a Prime minster in a mid term to pull this sort of shennigan act. on the backs of the poor people.

Bahamas, world, we must fight for the right people are hurting and lots are dieing.I guess we will do something when it reachs our door steps.Equality Justice for all people.

JUNKANOO, a sweet sensation my Inspiration.
Related to country: Bahamas

A burning desire my people my race. The men the women the boys and the girls. The foreigners in my land, the beautiful people in my Bahamaland.Haitian, jamiacan, chinese, philipino's,cuban all of these people who come to share in the beauty of my homeland. This junkanoo music that bellows out in the darkness of the night that comes to the morning light, the goat skin drums, that beat comes from mother Africa that is so strong today than it has ever been before that is so relevant as it has ever been before, the horns that conch shell still blown the nature of this music swell deep down in my soul no matter how I grow old .I looked at the baby and she is wide awake and with my connect I know there is no end insight in her eyes she will carry the light.

The Rush as those beats gather that ignite our dance deep in within our souls, and anyone who has caught the fire must dance. The parade so colourful it can put you in a trance, the costume quite grand, however there is something more that will meet your eye something magnificent if you are not careful it could make you cry.Oh they were so pretty as they came down the Bay new years and boxing day.Although they have gone back to there shacks they did not leave without the imprint of their tracks,oh how I wish they wish they would come back,Bold and courageous souls parade again. With them they carry the past the present and the future. In their dance and there music they express what they could not say openly this fire this passion which they carry daily, their voice their dreams no matter how far it may seem; they carry it daily to the beat of the drum I say the beat is in our hearts, the proceeding months you hear some far some near they will gather don't despair. As they gather and the sounds of there distant drums carry the message in mencholic beats, these beats of hope that our captors who enslave us don't seem to understand what is ever present is the message of our freedom our hope for our homeland. My brothers and my sisters join me as we forge our beat to thrust the very chords, chains and fetters that use to keep us captive we will dash it away. The mental enslavement that seems to baffle us will no longer entrap us , listen to the beat and feel the rythm that lies within our very hearts. What to many seem thousands of miles away remember the beat it resides within hearts today.

Bahamas what we need is to be courageous everyone although in different villages we know that we are still one let us covene in what I would say is a rush so that we can parade again everyday, ohh remember when we were home free to roam.

Speak your language Bahamas don't be afraid for they can not win with this white man tyrade, when will you stop being slave.

For those of you who feel the rush the time is now to get in line we will meet you at those shacks and there we will plan our attacks. They have long abandon there systems and there language is still very much the same.

If we don't rush we have no one to blame.

A nation hurting
Related to country: Bahamas

When lives of people are lost and families of the love ones on both sides of the equation are left at lost. When people in the nation have a great difficulty in adapting to the economics of living a comfortable live when it is blantant that the leaders of the country are not being forthcoming and are looked at as being cunning. The nation cries out in pain everyday we go back to the very basis of the nation the family. There is a large amount of people in my country that are having to bear the burden alone, mothers because of the lack of education in many regards, fathers for the lack of respect in his community, the family suffers.I contend that the moral fiber of the country are in deadly decay.

A people that are not lead by God is bound for distruction, we in the Bahamas seem to have bought into the idea that you can get something for nothing, weather it is by our own device or the colonial sabotage. We as a people must regain the control and right the wrongs and put in place the mechanism that would ensure we never have to suffer to such a degree again.

The education system in my country should be improved and in some cases instituted.I recall speaking with a senior man in my community and he said that at the age of 14 he had to leave school, at that time under the the united kingdom had the Bahamas as one of her colonies. He said to me that a system was put in place to ensure that the level of education he recieved verses a white boy his was no comparison when he went on to high school the black boy went to learn a trade or do manual labour. The clear advantage was used to ensure control over the blacks of the time those parents who were very close to the white man got the benefits because of the proximity and some of there children were afford the opportunity for higher learning.Only the best best students at the time were sent to Government high school and history would reflect that they who had the opportunity became the lawyers and doctors of the day and went on to be the polictical leaders of this country.Reader can you pause with me for a moment and think
about if all of the children were allowed to go as far as they would have liked to go.Wow What a brighter Bahamas this would have been in many ways.looking at the history once the black leaders gained political control of the Government then they soon opened the door for others who may not have had the opportunity to do so however only to a certain degree we today have really failed to take the baton to the next level of equip our people with the tools for greater growth,if a generation of people were not afford the right of a proper education then I would think the ones havong being freed to empower there people should ensure that there is no level in which any Bahamian should want to go as it relates to education the Government should not enourage,it is my belief that a bahamian child should have acess to free education up to university level. This only make sense to ensure the country will be able to compete on a world level. As a result of not facilating this to such an extent we have done our people a disservice.Rather we have continued with the notion of the white man agenda for the country which was to be his play ground and by extension his servants.Tourism was focused upon and blacks were seen to be the the servants, maids gardeners, waiters, and carry out the back of the house functions. To this day we have not changed this mindset with in the sucessive governments.
We are in desparate need for new industries and see ourselves in positions of authority and most importantly ownership. What has happened is the current leadership have been drunk with the power of selfish greed we must free our selve of this scourge. What has happened is the sense of obligation to the building up of the nation has been place on the back burner. It was once said to me man can only change his socioeconomic status based on his degree of education.I believe that to be correct to a large extent. My government has failed us her people in this fundamental tenant.Education of the masses to a greater degree if employed will be the pillars of our strength for centuries to come.

The pride of the people should be there nation when I look around the commonwealth of the Bahamas and see a small bust of Milo Butler just to name one think tell me that we don't think much of the Great Bahamian men and women when I look around and see the flags or non display of the flags of our country tell me about the feeling of the people as it relates to their country,it seems as though we have not taken ownership of our country although handed to us over 36years ago.Could it be that the handing over process was flawed in some way? Or could it be that we have not done enough to bring ourselves to the point of pride for self and country ?When I look at the way we treat one and the other it appears as if the white man's mentality is much alive in the spirit of the black man against his own self or by extension his own people. We seem to look at the qualified Bahamian as not good enough to run his or her department in government operations. It seems as if these things only become important on the celebration of the day and forgotten by the evening of the day of celebration, there seems to be no culture of pride for the artists, when I look at other countries in the carribean there pride for their homeland is very high and it seems like in the Bahamas we are very low. This much change in order to have the klind of national development that is needed to bring about the nationhood that is necessary for a more significant global position. It is interesting that we are view as member states by some which to me suggest that we have not produced such a display that we are definitely looked at as are own people. What is sad to me is that on many accounts it is our own people that are by extesion responsible .

The responsibility of a citizen should be taught at every level bringing about the pride necessary to enhance our nationhood,I have not seen for example people on a national level being sworn into be citizens of our country and there obligation to our country it seems as if people come here and are alolowed to form there own community within ours, this is tragic and what is becoming more prevalent is the dismissal of the facts when in fact it is very real to the Bahamian on the gound they would tell you that they are aware, but do nothing to prevent or change this if this continues we will be foreigners in our own land.

What is the solution? we come together, unite as a people on all levels to bring solutions to this mounting problem.I would like to see all sides of the political divide hold hands in solidatrity to strenghten our country in areas that will be benefical to all Bahamians and persons living within our borders.National Development across the board a united Bahamas, a Bahamas where Bahamian are encouraged to strive, dream and realise the loftier goals.

If I were Prime minister of The Bahamas.
Related to country: Bahamas

Here is the first thing I would do have a complete review of all the Government ministries and have a completely transparent report given to the people as it relate to the state of affairs.

Then I would ask for the recommendations by members of my cabinet and get the people invovled in the process of change.
I would establish national dialogue with my people through various media sources.I will have a yearly report of the manifesto as to the progress made and shortfalls if any.

I would also seek to make the ministries more effficeient and reduce the size of operating budgets ie.all government vehicles will be reduces in size.

My passion as prime minister will be on Social services of my people.I would appoint task force to address the development of bussiness in the local economy and start to look at alternative energy and reduction of polution in my country.

Education of my people will be the next stage of development,in all regards with special focus towards export of local products.

Land reform and constitutional reform will take place. The would be a massive appeal toward the Community to take a greater part in the welfare and self governence of the community in which they live.

How would I inffluence my people to challenge them to be greater than they were before would be a national promotion in every area.

I would allow and encourage trading among the local people development of money markets.

What I have found that the level of national pride is low in my country the flag of the country is not herald with the respect it deserves and just a general sense of unity in our country is not at a level of greatness.

We need to come together as a people and make this country the country I know we can become and that is great.
